Aaand because there is no news ever, I shall post this excerpt from a recent interview with SMeyer's editor of The Host. One is a question about Wanderer (or should I say ~The Wanderer~ )and then the other is about Ian.

BlogTalkRadio: I think the humans in the cave are in a tough spot when she shows up, when The Wanderer shows up. In your opinion, is it reasonable for them to extend kindness to The Wanderer and her kind? Was it more reasonable to ostracize her?

Asya M: You know, it’s funny because I think that it’s a very reasonable response to say this person, this being who has just walked into our secret lair, is one of the enemy. As far as all of these people hiding out in the caves are concerned, the aliens have taken away from them everything they’ve ever held dear, they’ve probably been responsible for colonizing loved ones of these people. I think that a hostile reaction is absolutely understandable and in a strange way that’s the most reasonable reaction. I think the people who open up their hearts to Wanderer are the anomaly. It’s like, how would you possibly be able to entertain the idea that one of these aliens is a good person? It takes a long time for that to happen with most of the people, but there are some people from the very beginning who are actually quite ready to hear her side of the story. I can’t tell for sure what I would do in that situation, but I think personally I would be one of the people who would consider her an enemy and do everything in my power to get rid of her.

Ian question/answer under the cutCollapse )

I love that she refers to the people who aren't hostile to Wanderer as "anomalies". It's an interesting way of thinking of it. That's one of the elements that makes Ian such a great character, I think. His conversion is just ...so great.

If you know me, you know how fickle I am when it comes to dream casts, especially concerning The Host. I can never really "commit" to an actor or actresses, so instead of making a picspam of my dream cast Ian and Wanderer ...I've made a compilation of the popular choices for these two roles. Obviously Wanderer doesn't have a body outside of Melanie's until the end, so I also dedicated a small section to Melanie as the actress who portrays Melanie will also be portraying Wanderer (she better be a damn good actress otherwise this film is screwed, lol).

I know there's a chance I didn't feature your particular Ian or Wanderer, but I just went with the actors and actresses who are favourites/popular. If you don't agree with any of these choices, that's totally cool (as I myself am wishy-washy). Feel free to share your own in the comments or make your own picspams. :)

good or bad?Collapse )

Hello all and thank you for joining ianwanderer! I know the movie is still a long way from complete and there's no word on sequels yet, so stuff is slow and you might even be wondering: WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS COMM? Well, the point is that I love this couple a lot and I know there are a lot of other fans out there who love them too... so I thought they deserved a comm of their own... Hopefully the slow rate of news will not discourage you for posting fanart, music, discussion, anything you want related to Ian/Wanderer :)

Anyway, this is a post that you can use to introduce yourself to your fellow Ian/Wanderer fans~
